Artsy Fartsy

Wowzers it's been a while!
TOo much has happened to catch up on in one post. If i tried you'd all be bored to death from reading. trust me! Let me just sum it up by saying God never ceases to amaze me. I dont know why i ever cry or get down about a situation anymore because even in the situations that hurt so bad and bring you incredible pain and tears, He always finds a way to make sure everything happens for a reason. And more times than not that reason is something i can learn from, get stronger from, and find happiness in. You can always find happiness in everything.. sometimes you just have to search harder and deeper to find it. Let me also say i can never get sick of meeting new people and getting close to and being involved in new circles of friends. That is one thing i can say i am very blessed with. Friends. What amazing people! That is one of the great things about attending two schools in high school and transferring churches at the same time, so many new people with opportunities for it to blossom into awesome friendships.

Lately i've been feeling crafty and inspired to do lots of DIY crafts. it may just be i have too much time on my hands and i spend them on stumbleupon and blog sites, but either way i love it :) it makes me feel like im useful with my time instead of sitting around eating and watching tv too much. Here are some of the things i've found and have tried or i'm looking forward to trying!

  1. The Doily Lamp Here is a link to how it is done http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1ZXmCP/www.moredesignplease.com/moredesignplease/2011/3/4/diy-doily-lamp.html

This is my first attempt my brother and i went on a search to find the supplies and turns out meijers sucks. All we accomplished there was gummy worms because you can't go to meijers without purchasing gummy worms. And those punching balloons that are so annoyingly fantastic are impossible to find! so if you'd like to attempt this let me just say head straight for target. in the gift area they are sold for about 2 bucks for 4 in a bag. We got the wallpaper paste from lowes and the lace from fields fabrics. It said to rub vaseline on the balloon before putting the lace on and we didn't have enough so i tried to use as much as we had in the right areas and at night i took this picture before bed and it looked so promising! i got home from work and got out the needle and POP. my hopes and night of efforts deflated right with the balloon. Not enough vaseline and the lace part shriveled up along with the balloon. BUmmer dude. but this means im gonna have to try again to perfect it cause i love the idea and i want a lace lamp in my room!
   2. I love this one! it's a watermark teeshirt thats super simple and i plan on attempting later on this week.
        3. Everything in this blog i want to try. Shes amazing! my mom said she is going to get a better sowing machine so i can make wonderful things :)
Thats all i have for right now but i'll be sure to keep you updated on how all of my crafts work out :)

My sister inspires me in every single piece for school she makes. Sometimes i get the pleasure of being a model for a project she needs. so i'm sharing them with you :) it's a lot of fun dressing up as different characters.

Yes we do put my moms wedding dress to use often. and yes the sleeves are huge and outrages but itll do for now.

Ear Opener

Thought i'd start off by sharing a recent experiment with my hair! Tried out a new way to curl it :) it involves no curling iron or blow dryer! yay for healthier hair!

all you do is simply get out of the shower and let your hair almost dry completely then take a 2inch headband fold it in half and put it on top of your hair starting at your crown. then take sections of your hair and wrap it around the headband all the way back then tuck in the remainders :)
i decided to wear the curling method style even though it's not intended to be worn in public. my mother told me i looked like Sarah plain and tall....
woke up the next morning and took the headband out and wvala! perfect ringlets! lovin it! also trying the middle part can i pull it off?

Boy oh boy where do i start! well lets start by saying God is so good. when i hit rough patches He sends people to lift me right up! it amazes me how awesome my life is. I can't be sad for more than a couple days because my friends and family are too funny and just dont let me allow it! and for that i can't thank them enough! Great weekend full of giggles. Laughter is honestly the best medicine. the weekend involved catching up with some of my nearest and dearest life long friends to bid Cam and Tyler fairwell on their journey to Ohio to hit the books in cOlLeGe and then meeting up with some recently new friends saturday night and honestly having the time of my life. For me the smallest gathering, doing nothing but hanging out and watching a football game, is the best. Some good music and great people you can't ever go wrong. The rest of the night involved
  • getting serenaded by Jesse and Josh, it was like Justin Moore was right there next to me!
  • Eating countless amounts of pixie stixs mmmm nom nom
  • Breaking open a new bag of LaFfY tAfFyS and snatching every purple one then sharing the jokes with Jesse, then within minutes i had an audience of Jesse, Josh, Caleb and Jared. When repeats were said i had taffy, crackers and wrappers being hurled at my head.
  • I was entrusted with Jesse's hat which he gave me a good challenge on fixing a tear near the bill.. keep in mind it's his FAVORITE one.
Saturday afternoon was spent snuggled in a blanket on the tramp :)

GLASSES :P

Be siLLy! it keeps you youthful :)
i love scarves <3

In previous posts i've challenged you to LOOK at the world upside down. This weekend i HEARD the world upside down. Laying on the tramp and just closing my eyes and listening to all the simple sounds we tune out everyday was amazing! the sound of a lawn mower and cars passing. Birds singing their glorious melodies and people talking. What a boring life it would be without sound. Again i saw God's touch in the sense of sound on Sunday at church. Sometimes songs i dont know its hard for me to sing from my soul. So i just stopped and instead of drifting off i just listened. Angels. Thats what it honestly sounded like. Amazing how much power and impact a group of people voices can make! it gave me the chills. So heres another  challenge i have for you for the rest of the week. Open up those ears! close your eyes and just take in all the amazing sounds God has enabled you to hear :) listen to the world Upside down.

I dont care what people say. I love mondays! it brings the "new" to so many things!
  • New week
  • New day
  • New jokes
  • New people
  • New way to impact others
  • New ways to make people smile
  • New obstacles
  • New reasons to try new things!
  • so so many more.

On this particular Monday however it was a chance for a look at the new 2011 Art Prize. Because of work on either my half or my friends half i haven't been able to see it until now. Yes, the top ten infuriates me! I'm a detail and pencil and paint on canvas girl. I have to utmost respect for those who will spend hours or days on detailing a portrait that may not be HUGE but is so realistic it looks like a photograph! why do the giant sculptures, pieces of cut out paper and men pretending to be statues get to be in top ten?! that to me is not the definition of art. I know everyone views it different, but when you have spent hours on perfecting a picture from graphite, you will appreciate the pencil, pen and paint portraits much more.

here are a few pictures i snapped from my phone of my favorites. camera is dead.. sad day so i had to deal with phone quality.

This man's portrait was accompanied by about 5 others which were all done with oil pastel on canvas. you can't see it in the picture, but when you get close in each wrinkle and dark spot it tells the story of his life in writing. each portrait had a different story. all in all my favorite by far! amazing detail and creative idea with the writing. Really draws people in.
This piece was located at the BOB and is a series of pictures put together to make the mona lisa. my favorite mini piece is the bottom left corner second one in. What else i like about this is they were selling each picture for 100 dollars each. i give artist amazing props for being able to sell their pictures. I am horrible at that. If i draw something that i am so proud of and it's my best yet i want to keep it for myself!
This was a piece that caught my eye. So much is going on and the detail is fantastic! one little boy with his mom next me to asked "Why do all the people have blankets on?" how cute and innocent children are :) while the mother is embarrassed it brought a smile to everyone elses face

“It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.”

“Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

“Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty
– they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.”

Thought for the week:
Why should age define friendship? Some of my best friends are 3 years old. who says just because someone is 6 or 7 or 10 or 20 years older than you that makes things weird and off limits? i dont live my life with limits, Break the rules, i have a new friend who has made my day the days 3 days by simple compliments that make me feel like what im doing in my life is getting noticed by at least one person, and that makes every unnoticed favor, every blown off excitement and so much more worth it for that one person who does see it. Find out who some people really are, You'll have a friend by being a friend.
